30th - NASA Wallops Night Sky Summer Series

In conjunction with the NASA Wallops Visitor Center, the National Park Service, and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
  • THE TELESCOPE PORTION OF THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ANTICIPATED SEVERE WEATHER. THE AUDITORIUM PRESENTATION WILL GO ON AS PLANNED.
  • WHO: Open to the public
  • WHAT: Nearly Full Moon, Saturn, Galactic Center, various nebula, & other objects
  • WHERE: Assateague Island, VA
  • WHEN: Thursday, July 30th, 2015
    • 7:30 - 10:00 PM
    • Please plan to arrive early enough to have your telescope setup by 7:00 PM!

13th - NASA Wallops Night Sky Summer Series - Perseid Meteor Shower

In conjunction with the NASA Wallops Visitor Center, the National Park Service, and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge

  • WHAT: Perseid Meteor Shower, Saturn, Galactic Center, various nebula, & other objects
  • WHERE: Assateague Island, VA

27th - NASA Wallops Astronomy Night - Total Lunar Eclipse

  • WHO: Open to the public
  • WHAT: Total Lunar Eclipse, Saturn, Galactic Center, various nebula, & other objects
  • WHERE: NASA Wallops Visitor Center
  • WHEN: Sunday, September 27th, 2015
    • Setup ~7:30 PM
    • Public viewing from 8:00 PM - 11:30 PM
      • Penumbral Eclipse begins at 8:13 PM
      • Partial Eclipse begins at 9:12 PM
      • Full Eclipse begins at 10:13 PM
      • Maximum Eclipse is at 10:47 PM
      • Full Eclipse ends at 11:22 PM
      • Partial Eclipse ends at 12:23 AM, on the 28th
      • Penumbral Eclipse ends at 1:22 AM, on the 28th
